Build A Plane project – Chevak, Alaska
Chevak School Rans S-6S Coyote II building log and general information about their aviation program.

Chevak School started an aviation program last year and is continuing and expanding this program for the 2010-2011 school year. With the help of Build-A-Plane, AvSTEM, and many other companies and organizations, (see “links” page), we have a Rans S-6S kit in our school being built by our students.
The Rans S-6S is a two place, side by side, tube and fabric experimental airplane manufactured by Rans Designs in Hays, KS. Our Coyote will be powered by a Rotax 912 ULS engine producing 100 hp.
The village of Chevak is located on the West Coast of Alaska and has a population of around 900 people. Chevak is a Cup’ik Eskimo village surrounded by vast tundra and the Bering Sea.
Follow the journey on the S-65 Building Log starting with Kit Arrives in Chevak on August 16, 2010 – the first entry in the log.
There has been a lot of progress and the plane is really coming together. See for yourself! We will be linking to Building log entries regularly here in the BuildAPlane LookUp! updates.
