T is for Technology

So what does David Hockney’s fresh flowers have to do with aviation? More than you might think, actually. We collect interesting online resources that we think will be of interest to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) educators and students.

We talked earlier about Look Up! Educator Network links and web resources collection being “more” inclusive rather than narrowly focused aviation and aerospace with direct tie-ins to science and math lessons. I’m interpreting that pretty liberally (pun intended) to include information about teaching and learning in general, as well as aviation with no specific curriculum connection and technology with some redeeming educational value.

This exhibition is a wonderful example of technology being adopted and adapted in ways that the scientists and engineers probably never imagined. And that’s the point. Check out the Brushes app web site – what someone with talent can do with a phone is awesome. There are videos of people actually working to create these amazing images.

Back to STEM – these same tools and technologies are also finding their way into scientific research, engineering modeling, teaching, aviation and aerospace applications.
