Aviation adventure planned for local youth.
SHAWNEE, Okla. —
The fourth annual Youth Aviation Adventure Day has been set for April 2 at the Shawnee Regional Airport. The event will allow local teenagers from ages 12 to 18 the opportunity to meet with professionals in the aviation industry and view up close the planes and helicopters used every day in Oklahoma.
Organizer Bill Beck said the program started as a way to help Boy Scouts earn their aviation merit badge, and was expanded to include other teenagers within the required age range.
“The event is designed to introduce children to the wonderful world of aviation,” Beck said. “To make it more practical, it covers numerous aviation careers.”
